Coach Hannah Beth Baker is a graduate of Lee Scott Academy where she played basketball and softball and competed in track and field. In high school, in 2009, she was a part of the 2009 Softball State Championship team at Mill Creek High School in Georgia. In 2010, She was a part of the Basketball All-State Team from Lee Scott Academy in Alabama, placing third in the state. She was also a part of the 2010 State All-Star Team for Softball from Lee Scott Academy in Alabama. Additionally, she was the 2nd place Discus Thrower Track State Champion from Lee Scott Academy in 2010. Finally, in 2010, she was a Super 7 Athlete from Lee County, Alabama.
She went on to study at the University of Mobile and Auburn University, earning a Bachelor’s in Spanish, also studying at the Universidad de Salamanca, earning a Certificado avanzado en el castallano. While in college, she played softball and club lacrosse. During that time, she made two NAIA National Softball Tournament appearances, was an Academic Scholar Athlete, and a Goalie on the Auburn Club Lacrosse team.
Coach Baker has been teaching and coaching for five years. During that time, she has been the head JV Basketball Coach in Pelham, Alabama during 2020-2021 with a record of 9-2 and the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach the same year who had their first appearance to the Sweet 16. The following year (2021-2022), Coach Baker was the Assistant Varsity Coach in Gwinnett County where they were the 7A State Champions and the Head JV Basketball Coach where they went 9-2 and took 2nd place in Gwinnett County. During the years 2021-2023, she coached Softball and led her teams to 1st Round State appearances.
Coach Baker looks up to several people as mentors: her high school softball coach Kelley Murdock, her high school basketball coach Chad Prewett, and her grad school professor Sue Barry. She is close to her parents and her three younger brothers who all live in Alabama. She is quite proud of her son, a mini Aussieedoodle named Kique, who is four years old.
Some additional highlights from Coach Baker: she watches the entire Harry Potter movie series start to finish every few months whenever she is stressed; she is an enneagrams 3 w 4; she loves shoes; she watches a lot of foreign shows; and she loves Thai food.
